Meet the Fleet at 32 nd St Event:

  • Date: November 2nd, 2024
  • Time: 9:00 am to 3:00 pm
  • Location: Naval Base San Diego
  • Main Entrance: Naval Base San Diego Gate 9 (at the intersection of Harbor Dr. and 8th Street in National City); Visitors will not be granted access to the Base at any other gate.
  • Agenda: Naval Base San Diego (NBSD) is hosting a General Public Visit (GPV). The event will feature ship tours, static displays, rides, food vendors, and live music from the CNRSW Navy Band. The goal is to promote community engagement with the Fleet while offering a fun and informative experience.

 

Important Information:

  1. Admission Requirements: The event is open to all visitors, welcoming members of the community to join and experience the Navy Fleet firsthand.
  2. Parking and Transportation: If you choose to drive, on-site parking is available in designated parking areas on base. Strongly encourage using the MTS Trolley (8th Street Stop on Blue Line). Entrance to Base is directly across Harbor Dr. from the 8th Street Trolley Stop.
  3. Shuttle Service:
    Pickup Location: Parking lot adjacent to Gate 9 (8th Street/Harbor Dr.), which is across the street from the MTS Trolley 8th Street Station (Blue Line)
    Shuttle Route: Shuttles will run from 9:00am-3:00pm, making stops from the pickup location to the designated event area every 10 minutes.
  4. Ship Tours:
    ◦ All adult (over 18 years of age) visitors must show U.S. federal or state issued identification or passport.
    ◦ All visitors and their baggage will be inspected before entering the pier enclave.
    ◦ Closed-toe shoes are highly recommended.
    ◦ No pets (including ADA dogs) are authorized on the ships. ADA dogs are allowed off the pier in the event area.
  5. Prohibited Items Include:
    ◦ Large Ice Chests and Coolers
    ◦ Pets (Exceptions: Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Service Dogs will be allowed onto the installation and event area but will not be allowed on the pier)
    ◦ Glass Containers
    ◦ All weapons (regardless of permit), firearms, knives, replica
    ◦ or toy weapons, clubs, stun guns, or anything that ejects a projectile
    ◦ Mace, Pepper Spray, spray cans or other defensive spray or chemicals
    ◦ Fireworks or Explosives of any kind
    ◦ Flammable Liquids
    ◦ Club Weapons
    ◦ Marijuana/illegal drugs and/or paraphernalia
    ◦ Drones/Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS)
    ◦ Pop-Up Tents
    ◦ Large backpacks or other large bags, oversized camera bags, or purses larger than 7 inches by 10 inches (Special consideration given to diaper bags, strollers, etc. accompanying small children)
    ◦ Gas and charcoal grills
    ◦ Food or beverages with the exception of baby food or formula outside designated areas
    ◦ Two-way radios and scanners
    ◦ Bullhorns, flags (excluding U.S.), spray paint, or demonstration material/equipment of any kind
    ◦ Skateboards/bicycles/hover boards or electric vehicles of any kind Gang related clothing/accessories
    ◦ Laser Pointers
    ◦ Propaganda/political posters, flags or signs displaying personal political views
  6. Handicap:
    ◦ The base is accessible to visitors with disabilities. If you require special accommodations, please notify the sentry at the gate upon arrival to be issued a pass.
