"Many of the world’s most important race cars were a thrill
to watch on track but being able to experience them up close
was truly exciting. Every where you looked, it was like
stepping back in time through the evolution of sports car
competition."

"We have enjoyed
attending the Coronado Festival of Speed since its
inception. Where else can you watch vintage race cars and
see Fighter Jets, Submarines, and Air Craft Carriers from
the same seat. A great event with a venue like is was back
in the day".

“The Coronado
Classic Speed Festival brings the Monterey Historics to San
Diego. With its wide-open track fans have a clear view of
the action as well as the incredible backdrop of the US
military machinery. It's like being time-warped through
Sebring during the glory days of racing. A motorsports
museum come alive.”

“It's great to
still be able to enjoy auto racing and a racetrack
atmosphere so close to home. We have the climate and the
fans -- now all we need is a permanent auto racing facility
in the San Diego area. I'd be more than glad to help
someone accomplish that.”

“It is one of the
only local races that lets the average person in the pits so
they can be up front and close to the cars and drivers. For
me it brought back memories of when my dad took me to Torrey
Pines and some of the old airport races when I was 5yrs old.
That was when I became Car Crazy and drag raced at the old
Irwindale Speedway and later worked with the Kraco Indy Team
and began my hobby and career in Racing Photography. The
Coronado Festival allows family's to come out and show their
kids where and how the true racing began in San Diego and
around the USA. Being up close, hearing the roar of the
racing engines, talking with the drivers and the smell of
the racing engines will be the beginning of the next
Andretti, Boris Said of Sobe NO Fear Racing. Who knows but
its the greatest local event in San Diego.”

Coastline Racing, Carlsbad, CA
"My wife Carole
and I have attended about six of these great events. Each
year the number of cars and most important the quality of
cars continues to increase. The openness and access to the
cars and drivers is without equal. There seems to be a more
relaxed and friendly atmosphere here. It reminds me of the
times in the late 50’s through early 60’s when I was
photographing some of the very same cars when they
originally raced on Southern California tracks. One very
special moment I had was spending some time with Phil Hill,
and his wife Alma, late one afternoon after most of the
people had gone. We talked about some of the immaculate
1930’s era cars that were there. You could just feel the
love that he had for these great machines."

"Coronado Island is amazing, and the cars that come out for
this event are a cut above the usual fare at vintage
events!"
-- Brian Green - www.bgreenphotos.net
"Coronado is fast becoming the "Monterey Historics" South,
one of the finest events in this country in it's own
right... Great to see some of the cars we raced with in
IMSA and SCCA"
-- Bruce Mallery, Former driver and current photographer
"I've been
attending this event for years as a spectator, participant,
and most recently covering it for AlfaBB.com. It's a
fabulous event from all aspects and I hope to see it grow in
the coming years. The old airport style race course really
gives you that feeling of stepping back in time."
