Peter F. Hedley
Mr. Hedley is the President of Galaxie Management dba Galaxie Defense Marketing Services. He retired as a Captain, U.S. Navy, having served in all components of the Surface Navy. He was responsible for five commands; including the Pacific Fleets Amphibious Aviation Readiness Squadron of 12 ships and 6,500 personnel. He had extensive experience in operational coordination with submarine, naval air and special warfare commands, and was instrumental in development of leading edge tactics in amphibious assaults with U.S. Marine Corps counterparts.
For six years after naval service, he was manager of San Diego operations for Alliant Techsystems, a major supplier of hardware and services to the Department of Defense. Responsibilities included full spectrum of activities including business development, facilities and Congressional liaison as well as frequent interface with Navy laboratories, centers, fleet activities, and uniformed Navy leadership.
Mr. Hedley earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Marine Engineering from the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy with a U.S. Coast Guard License (Steam and Diesel), and is a graduate of the Naval War College, subsequently attending numerous senior management courses with the Navy and Industry.
Mr. Hedley is a former Chairman of Fleet Week San Diego and a member of the Fleet Hall of Fame. He served of serves on the Boards of the Armed Forces YMCA, the National Defense Industrial Association, Armed Forces Communication and Electronics Association, and the Navy League, as well as numerous other committees and organizations supportive of the Navy, Marine Corps and Coast Guard. Mr. Hedley has chaired the Research Development, Test and Evaluation Sub Committee for the San Diego Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC-95). He is a former two-term national board member of the Surface Navy Association, and is a board member and past President of the Pacific Life Holiday Bowl and is Immediate Past President of the Point Loma Rotary Club. He served as the President of Fleet Week Foundation Board of Directors, and is a founder and Past President of the San Diego Military Advisory Council, an organization of over 85 defense industry companies representing over 35,000 employees in the San Diego region. Mr. Hedley is a 2005 recipient of the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy’s Award for Outstanding Professional Achievement and Silver Mariner Award, and a 2006 San Diego Daily Transcript awardee as one of 120 Top Influentials in San Diego.
